Feature 3: Revitalizing Local Economies Communicating Regional Resources Through Industry-Academia Collaboration

Aichi Prefectural University is conducting a practical problem-solving program in collaboration with regional companies in an aim to develop global human resources as required by the regional industry. This time, Aichi Prefectural University introduced these initiatives to us through the Bank’s collaboration agreement partner Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and participated in the “Two Pearls Project.”

We believe that through the above initiatives we were able to appropriately communicate the thoughts of Tanabe Pearl Farm Co., Ltd. and the appeal of its products to people outside of Japan. We also believe that this led to promoting the splendor of pearls to the world as our local products. For the students as well, I believe coming into direct contact with executives who are passionate about pearls through interviews with Tanabe Pearl Farm inspired them a lot.

OKKO Pearl Co., Ltd. greatly appreciated this opportunity since the production of pearl accessories by university students became an opportunity to promote the appeal of pearls to young people. We also believe that we were able to provide students with a great experience to actually work on their own from concept creation, design to exhibition promotion.
