Inviting Malaysian Companies to Mie Prefecture!
- Automotive Business Matching Events and Visits to Tourist Spots in Mie Prefecture -
As part of efforts to support overseas development and expansion of sales channels, the Hyakugo Bank invited automotive-related companies from Malaysia to Mie Prefecture for a business fair and visits to tourist spots in Mie Prefecture. Here we introduce the Bank’s “MICE*” initiatives that exceed the boundaries of business.
*What is MICE?
MICE stands for Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition, and collectively refers to events related to business such as business fairs and international conferences where people gather and interact, with a focus on tourism and travel.
As the scope of economic and consumption activities is broad, spanning the holding of conferences, accommodation, dining, and tourism, MICE is expected to generate more economic benefits in the surrounding regions than mere sightseeing.

MICE of the Hyakugo Bank What Led Us to Holding MICE and its Aim
Amid the growing recognition of Mie Prefecture after the Ise-Shima Summit held in May 2016, we took this business fair as an occasion to plan an event to help people realize how amazing Mie Prefecture is as a tourist destination, based on our desire to invite more foreign tourists. In particular, because this event was attended by affluent Malaysians, we hope that they will share their experience at home and encourage more visitors to Japan.

We were able to hold an event that welcomed many foreign visitors from overseas for the first time, and it was an extremely good experience for me. We had to think of many things, including how to make the event as beneficial as possible and how to ensure our foreign visitors could spend their time care free. While we undertook a lot of effort, we were moved by the many words of gratitude and encouragement that we received from the participants.
Business with companies overseas is becoming increasingly important every year and in addition to the increase in customers that are interested in doing business with overseas companies, local government and companies are also focusing on attracting tourists from overseas.
People of the local regions were very cooperative in welcoming foreigners on local visits, such as setting up a place of worships at sites visited, and it was extremely meaningful to us that our guests from Malaysia enjoyed this visit.
We will continue to carry out activities and events that will bring together overseas companies and Japanese companies in a variety of ways.
