Participation in Reforestation
In October 2006, 118 Bank officers, employees and family members participated in reforestation activities at “Hyakugo Forest” near Shakujyo Lake in Geinocho, Tsu. They planted a total of 550 mountain cherry, zelkova and Japanese maple trees. For the next five years, the Bank will bear the expenses of maintenance of the forest, which is handled by the Chusei Forestry Association.
Comprehensive Agreement with Mie University on Promotion of Industry and University Cooperation
Hyakugo Bank has concluded a comprehensive agreement with Mie Chukyo University, Mie University and Nagoya University to promote industry-university cooperation. Under the agreement, the three parties will broadly deploy the functions of their respective organizations to advance individual cooperative relationships, and will also conduct activities such as close information exchange and research on regional policies. Through such cooperation, we hope to make our contribution to local communities and utilization of results more productive.

Cleanup Campaigns
As a member of the community, Hyakugo Bank participates in volunteer programs in each area it serves. Since 1982, in response to a request from the central division of the Chiisa na Shinsetsu Undo (the Small Kindness Movement) we have participated in the All Japan Cleanup Campaign, in which the entire Bank engages in cleanup activities. In addition, we participate in the Tsu Citizens Cleanup Day to clean up Akogiura Beach.
On-Site Learning Program
Hyakugo Bank actively promotes an on-site learning program for elementary, middle and high school students. The program has been acclaimed for providing an opportunity for students to get together with Bank employees to learn about Hyakugo Bank’s business, attend observation tours of branches, prepare passbooks, interact with customers in the lobby, and participate in other related activities.
Regional Information Magazine
Six times a year in even-numbered months, we issue Subarashiki Mie (“Magnificent Mie”), which has publicized sightseeing attractions, festivals and traditional industries in Mie Prefecture since the magazine’s first issue in October 1984. The feature page of each issue is also posted on Hyakugo Bank’s web site.
Cooperation in Cultural Programs
Hyakugo Bank actively cooperates in philanthropic activities to promote regional culture. Among recent examples, we co-sponsored the performance of the Hanover North German Radio Orchestra conducted by Eiji Oue in June 2006 at the Mie Prefecture Culture Center. We also provide support for cultural education programs, including co-sponsorship of the 13th New Japan Philharmonic Music Clinic instructed by members of the New Japan Philharmonic, and the 58th Prefectural Art Exhibition.
Community Exhibitions in Bank Lobbies
The lobbies of Hyakugo Bank branches are offered as relaxing conversation spaces. Paintings, calligraphy, handicrafts and other works by people from the region are displayed here, and customers who come to the branches can freely view these works created in their own communities.
Cooperation in Overseas Coin Donations for UNICEF
Hyakugo Bank supports the activities of UNICEF in providing assistance to developing countries. As of April 2007, the Bank has set up Overseas Coin Donation Boxes for UNICEF in 23 of its branches.
